Is this right for you?

Who this is for — and who it isn't

This is for you if…

  • Senior PMs or product leads with 2+ years of shipping experience
  • PMs who feel like they're always firefighting instead of building
  • PMs whose roadmaps get rewritten every quarter by shifting priorities
  • PMs preparing for a Head of Product or Director role
  • Engineering or design leads who want to think more systemically about product

This is NOT for you if…

  • New PMs still learning the basics of agile or sprint planning
  • PMs looking for a job or trying to break into product management
  • Anyone expecting a certification that substitutes for real-world experience
  • People who want async-only — this course is built around live calls

Week by week

Full curriculum

Six weeks. Twelve live calls. One capstone project. Here's exactly what you'll learn.

1

The Systems Mindset

Live call

Why PMs stay stuck and how to get unstuck

Most PM firefighting is structural, not personal. In week 1, we map the feedback loops that create reactive teams — and rewire your product instincts to see leverage points instead of symptoms.

Key outcomes

  • Build a mental model inventory for your product
  • Draw a causal loop diagram for your top user problem
  • Identify the highest-leverage intervention point in your current roadmap
2

User Behavior as a System

Live call

Why users do what they do — and how to design for it

Jobs-to-be-done is well-known. The feedback loops underneath it are not. We map user behavior as a dynamic system — so you can predict how product changes will ripple through your metrics, not just your current sprint.

Key outcomes

  • Map the behavior system for your core user flow
  • Identify 3 reinforcing loops and 2 balancing loops in your product
  • Write a behavior-led problem statement for your next initiative
3

Prioritization Without Politics

Live call

A decision framework that doesn't require consensus

The reason prioritization is political is that it's usually implicit. We make it explicit — building a personal decision rubric that encodes your strategy, surfaces tradeoffs, and lets you say no without a meeting.

Key outcomes

  • Build your personal prioritization rubric (impact × confidence × effort)
  • Write a stakeholder alignment script for your next roadmap review
  • Apply the rubric to your current backlog and rank the top 10 items
4

Metrics That Compound

Live call

Design a metrics tree that rewards long-term thinking

Quarterly OKRs optimize for quarterly outcomes. We build a metrics hierarchy that rewards compounding — so short-term decisions don't undermine long-term product health. Includes a live workshop on leading vs. lagging indicators.

Key outcomes

  • Build a metrics hierarchy for your product (north star → input → output)
  • Identify 3 leading indicators that predict your north star metric
  • Write a metrics brief your team can use in sprint reviews
5

Roadmapping as Communication

Live call

Your roadmap is a narrative — make it one

A roadmap that requires explanation has already failed. We rebuild the roadmap as a communication artifact — one that tells the right story to engineering, design, sales, and leadership without four separate decks.

Key outcomes

  • Rewrite your current roadmap as a 12-week narrative
  • Create a one-page roadmap summary for non-PM stakeholders
  • Develop a roadmap review cadence that surfaces blockers early
6

Capstone & Alumni Network

Live call

Present your product strategy — then join the alumni cohort

In the final week, each participant presents their product strategy document: a capstone built over the 6 weeks using every framework from the course. Peer reviews, instructor feedback, and a live graduation call.

Key outcomes

  • Complete and present your product strategy document
  • Receive written instructor feedback on your capstone
  • Join the alumni network with 6-month Discord access

Meet Allan Ninal

Allan Ninal

Senior PM → Product Educator

Notion Linear YC W21 YC S19

Allan spent 8 years as a PM at some of the most product-led companies in tech — Notion, Linear, and two YC-backed startups where he was the first PM hire. In that time, he built systems for prioritization and roadmapping that worked not just when everything was going well, but when the quarter was on fire.

Systems Thinking for PMs grew out of a workshop he ran internally for his team in 2023. After sharing the framework with a few PM friends, he got enough emails to run it as a public cohort. Four cohorts later, 160 alumni work at companies ranging from Figma to pre-seed startups.

He teaches because the conventional PM canon is heavy on frameworks and light on the underlying mental models. His goal is not to give you another 2×2 — it's to help you see your product as a system so you never need someone else's 2×2 again.

"I don't want to give you another 2×2. I want to help you see your product as a system, so you never need someone else's framework again."

— Allan Ninal, on teaching philosophy

What cohort graduates say

Real outcomes from real PMs — across Cohorts 1 through 4.

Activation +22% in one quarter

“The systems mindset completely changed how I run planning cycles. I shipped less, but the things I shipped compounded. Our activation metric went from flat to +22% over one quarter — and I can point to exactly which leverage point we moved.”

Maya Patel

Senior PM @ Figma · Cohort 2

40% less stakeholder negotiation time

“Allan's prioritization framework alone was worth the price. I went from spending 40% of my time in stakeholder negotiations to having a shared rubric everyone could reason from. No more endless debate in sprint planning.”

Jordan Lee

PM @ Stripe · Cohort 1

VP sign-off in first meeting

“I took this during a rough quarter at work. The capstone gave me a framework I used to restructure our entire Q3 strategy. I presented it directly to our VP of Product and got sign-off in the first meeting.”

Rania Ibrahim

Group PM @ Shopify · Cohort 3

Best PM training investment, period

“Six weeks, twelve calls, one capstone. The ROI on this is absurd compared to any PM certification program I've taken. The live format forces you to apply the concepts immediately — not just nod along in a recording.”

Chris Nakamura

Product Lead @ Vercel · Cohort 2

Promoted 3 months post-cohort

“I used the capstone document directly in my promotion case. My manager said it was the clearest articulation of product strategy she'd seen from a PM at my level. Got promoted 3 months after cohort ended.”

Priya Sharma

PM → Head of Product @ a16z-backed startup · Cohort 4

Live format beats async, every time

“The live call format makes it real. Having 39 other PMs ask the hard questions in real time — and seeing Allan think through edge cases on the spot — is better than any podcast, book, or async course I've done.”

Thomas Wittmann

Senior PM @ Linear · Cohort 3

Questions

Frequently asked

Everything you need to know before enrolling in Cohort 5.

How much time should I expect to commit each week?

Plan for 4–6 hours per week: two 90-minute live calls (3h), plus 1–2 hours for the weekly assignment and Discord participation. The capstone in Week 6 takes an additional 3–4 hours to prepare. You don't need to attend every call live — recordings are available within 24h — but the value is highest when you show up live.

What if I miss a live call?

All calls are recorded and posted to the course platform within 24 hours. You can watch at your own pace and submit your weekly assignment asynchronously. Most cohort participants miss 1–2 calls due to scheduling conflicts — that's normal and fine. The course is designed to work fully async for people in non-US time zones.

Are the recordings available after the cohort ends?

Yes. You'll have access to all call recordings for 12 months after the cohort ends. The Discord community stays open for 6 months post-cohort, after which you're invited to the ongoing alumni network.

What are the prerequisites?

You should have at least 2 years of PM experience and be actively shipping product at a company. This is not a beginner course — it assumes you know what a roadmap is and have felt the pain of the prioritization meeting. If you're a new PM, check back in a year. If you're an engineering or design leader who works closely with PMs, reach out before enrolling.

What is your refund policy?

Full refund within 7 days of the cohort start date if you've attended fewer than 2 calls. After that, no refunds — but you can defer to the next cohort (Cohort 6) at no extra charge. If life genuinely intervenes (illness, layoff, family emergency), reach out directly and we'll work something out.

Do you offer scholarships or income-based pricing?

We reserve 2 scholarship seats per cohort for PMs at non-profits, government, or in lower-income markets. Email landix.ninal@gmail.com with a brief note on your situation before the early bird deadline. We don't have a formal application — just an honest conversation.

Can my whole team join? Is there a team discount?

Yes — the team rate is $2,800 for 3 seats (save $391 vs. three individual early bird seats). Larger teams (4+ seats) should reach out directly for a custom rate. Having 2–3 people from the same team is actually ideal — you can work on the capstone together around a shared product.

How much access do I have to you (Allan) directly?

Every live call includes 30 minutes of open Q&A. There's also a weekly 30-minute office hours slot every Friday (first come, first served) where you can bring a specific problem. In the Discord, Allan checks in daily Mon–Fri and responds to questions within 24h. The capstone gets written feedback from Allan personally — not a TA.
